Combatant Command Operational Support
Planning and Partnership (P&P) acts as a force multiplier for Combatant Commands (CCMDs), delivering tailored reach-back support that enhances mission effectiveness and strategic alignment. The P&P team provides expert leadership to coordinate and execute all facets of program and event lifecycle management—integrating logistics, strategic advisory, and administrative support to meet complex operational needs.
Core Objectives:
- Provide programmatic support and subject matter expertise to ensure initiatives meet federal health and security objectives.
- Design and implement military-to-military, military-to-civilian, and regional health security exchanges, ensuring full integration with Joint Staff and CCMD priorities.
- Develop and execute comprehensive, long-term programs that provide continuity across shifting operational environments.
- Incorporate institutional best practices and lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle to ensure enduring mission success.
Conferences
Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS)
The Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS) provides a collaborative setting for the exchange of information between military providers with deployment experience, research and academic scientists, international partners, and industry on research and related health care initiatives. NIDHC hosted the annual GHE research track at the 2025 MHSRS.
Indo-Pacific Military Health Exchange (IPMHE)
In support of the USINDOPACOM Surgeon’s Office, NIDHC supported execution of the 2025 Indo-Pacific Military Health Exchange (IPMHE). The event provided a platform for military healthcare professionals to collaborate on key health topics affecting the region, including disaster response, medical readiness, public health, and healthcare delivery improvements. NIDHC assisted the USINDOPACOM Surgeon’s Office in managing the conference, shaping the agenda, and providing logistical support.
Indo-Pacific health alliance for security (IPhas)
The Indo-Pacific health alliance for security (IPhas) is a collaborative initiative between USINDOPACOM and the Australian Defence Force (ADF) aimed to counter global health security threats, strengthen regional resilience, and expand civil-military collaboration with like-minded partners and to enhance shared capabilities to safeguard the Indo-Pacific region. In support of INDOPACOM NIDHC assists in event planning/execution, agenda build out, website management, registration, strategic advisory SME, and logistics.
International Conference of Military Medical Schools (ICMMS)
The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) hosted the 4th International Conference of Military Medical Schools (ICMMS) September 2024, in partnership with NIDHC, at its Bethesda campus. The conference brought together 62 delegates from 20 countries across all six U.S. military geographic combatant commands, underscoring a commitment to global health security and cross-border collaboration in military medicine. The event was led by USU President Dr. Jonathan Woodson on behalf of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs Dr. Lester Martinez-Lopez.
